About Manilva

Manilva is located at the southwestern edge of Malaga and on the border of Cadiz. The town is divided into two parts. Namely, the ocean resort and the lovely sleepy village of white-washed buildings just 3km from the coast. This village is actually the original Manilva and, on one of its borders, you will notice the stunning view of the Moscatel Grapes vineyard. These grapes are used to make delicious sweet wine. The fertile soil and amazing weather make it the perfect spot for growing these crops.

This town has a wonderfully rich history that dates back to Roman times and there are even some Roman sulphur baths that have been wonderfully well-preserved. These waters are known for their health benefits. Of course, if you want to reach them, you will need to dive into a subterranean cavern and your swimwear will certainly absorb the strong smell of sulphur.

Even along the coastal resort section of these parts, Manilva has retained the quaint small village mentality. This means that there’s a visible absence of excessive development and this makes it even more appealing for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of big city life. If you feel the need for some urban fun, you can always make your way to nearby Puerto Duquesa, Estepona, or Sabinillas. Malaga is less than 100km away and Gibraltar airport is even closer.

What to see and do

There are plenty of wonderful activities to enjoy in Manilva and they are suited for all ages too. If you fancy some history, culture, and architecture, you should make a trip to the local 17th-century church. At the foot of the village, you will also come across two remaining pieces of the aqueduct in very good condition.

The beaches in this area are simply superb. There is no way that you can ever get tired of the serenity of the water and soft sand. That fresh air is fantastic for encouraging restful sleep and many people enjoy an overall healthier lifestyle in these parts. The best part of all is that these beaches are usually uncrowded. Even in the summer, you will still have plenty of room to sit or bask in the sun with your friends and family.

Costa del Sol is known for its many amazing golf courses. Not only are they world class, but they are also set in one of the most beautiful parts of the world. Some of the courses near Manilva include Almenara in Sotogrande, Doña Julia in Casares, Alcaidesa Golf, and La Duquesa. This is an excellent central location for golfers who want to visit as many different nearby courses as possible.

As for eating out, you will be pleased to know that there are plenty of seaside restaurants as well as others located in the more urbanised areas. There are some bars in the area but Manilva is not known for its nightlife.

Finally, the climate in this area is one of the main reasons why so many people choose to live along the Costa del Sol. Sub-tropical Mediterranean climates mean warm summers and mild winters. The temperatures average at about 32 degrees Celsius in the summer and the sea breeze makes it manageable.
